The Legacy of Wiks candle co

When I started WIKS Candle Co, it was never just about candles. It was about creating something that would last beyond me. I wanted to build a legacy—something my family could look back on and say, “Granny made this with love.”

Today was one of those days that reminded me exactly why I started.

At just 3½ years old, my granddaughter, Elliotte Jayne, spent the day helping me make laundry detergent in the WIKS workshop. I make the recipe and measure everything out, but once the ingredients are ready, she jumps right in. She loves pushing the buttons on the mixers, scooping the powder into each jar, placing the scoops inside, and helping with the labels.

If you happen to purchase a jar and notice a label that’s not perfectly straight, that’s okay. It was placed there with tiny hands and a big heart. Truth be told, she does an excellent job throughout the entire process.

What amazes me most is how much she remembers. She knows the routine, knows where the scoops go, and takes her “job” very seriously. All the while, we’re listening to her favorite song, Jesus Loves Me, playing in the background.

Of course, every good workday includes break time. Between batches, we enjoyed snacks, watched a little Peppa Pig, and shared plenty of laughs.

These are the moments I treasure most.

Through simple tasks, Elliotte is learning discipline, patience, responsibility, and a strong work ethic. But more importantly, we’re making memories together. She’s learning that work can be meaningful, creativity can be fun, and time spent with family is priceless.

If WIKS Candle Co never grows another day beyond what it is now, I can honestly say it has already given me something far more valuable than business success. It has given me beautiful days like this—days spent side by side with my granddaughter, creating, learning, laughing, and building memories that will last a lifetime.

That is the legacy I hope to leave.
